The Science of Communication – Communication, Active
Listening, and Conflict Management will walk you through understanding the
communication flow, where breakdowns can happen and strategies to avoid them.
We’ll next discuss active listening as an important step in communication – how
to listen to understand. Finally, we’ll discuss various ways to define
communication and conflict management styles, how to identify our own and
improve where needed, and how to communicate between different styles.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this self-study course, participants will be able to:
1. Define communication, active listening, and conflict resolution styles.
2. Discuss the importance and art of active listening as the key building block of communication.
3. Relate various communication and conflict resolution styles to one another effectively.
4. Identify personal communication and conflict resolution styles and evaluate the use of each in various situations.

This self-study is P.A.C.E. ® accredited. The instruction level for this activity is Intermediate. One (1) P.A.C.E. ® contact hours and one (1) Florida credit hour in the area General will be awarded to participants.
