Often times lab professionals transition from clinical practice to education with minimal educational background. Usually, the new faculty is expected to be the expert and begin teaching immediately. This session will discuss implementation of a new faculty mentorship system, including junior faculty challenges, the mentor-mentee relationship, program structure, and model incorporation outcomes.
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Describe the hands on academic faculty mentor – mentee relationship.
- Explain the challenges associated with a clinical laboratory generailst transferring into the world of academics.
- Examine the outcomes of the mentoring process, pertaining to both mentor and mentee, as well as the program.
ASCLS is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E. ® Program. One (1) P.A.C.E. ® contact hour and one (1) Florida credit hour in the area of Education (General) will be awarded to participants. ASCLS P.A.C.E.® is accepted by the ASCP/ASCLS/AGT Board of Certification and all states, including Florida and California, as an approved provider of continuing education for recertification and licensure. ASCLS is an approved provider with CE Broker for Florida licensees.
