Credentials and the names of
our professionals have evolved quite a bit, how can you recognize if a
certification is valid or what education it represents? What’s the difference
between CAP, CLIA, and CLIP? This presentation will attempt to address some of
the commonly asked questions by new supervisors and managers in the laboratory.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be
able to
- Evaluate laboratory certifications found on a resume and know the educational requirements that they represent.
- Describe the difference between certification and licensure.
- Explain the relationship between the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act, the College of American Pathologists, and the Joint Commission.
