(Recorded 1/20/2023)
Presented by Eric Stanford, MHA, MLS(ASCP)cm
Laboratory data impacts every
patient in health care, from minor checkups to major health needs. We may
forget that this data can create unintentional bias if not carefully implemented.
The eGFR equation is one piece of laboratory data with huge implications in
many areas of health care and using the wrong equation can create unnecessary
barriers for some patients.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be
able to
- Summarize the role of eGFR in nephrology and kidney health.
- Identify the racial and ethnic bias created by existing eGFR equations.
- List the most critical items to include while onboarding a new employee.
