This presentation illustrates why implementing reticulocyte hemoglobin into current algorithms could benefit patient care. The focus includes iron kinetics, existing iron deficiency algorithms, and reticulocyte hemoglobin capabilities.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

• Explain the pathophysiology of iron deficiency anemia
• Describe the potential benefits of implementing reticulocyte hemoglobin in the diagnostic algorithm
• Identify other reticulocyte parameters used in anemia classification
