Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization -
time of flight (MALDI-TOF) has made changes in the way we identify
microorganisms in the Clinical Microbiology laboratory. Are you familiar with
this method? In this session we’ll discuss MALDI-TOF and how this method has impacted
the way we work in the laboratory.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, the attendee will be able to:
- Explain how MALDI-TOF works and how it’s used in the laboratory.
- Describe the positive impact this method has had on Clinical Microbiology.
- Discuss how this method has changed the workflow and the challenges and disadvantages this presents.
