Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization - time of flight (MALDI-TOF) has made changes in the way we identify microorganisms in the Clinical Microbiology laboratory. Are you familiar with this method? In this session we’ll discuss MALDI-TOF and how this method has impacted the way we work in the laboratory.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, the attendee will be able to:

  1. Explain how MALDI-TOF works and how it’s used in the laboratory.
  2. Describe the positive impact this method has had on Clinical Microbiology.
  3. Discuss how this method has changed the workflow and the challenges and disadvantages this presents.
